2015 Project ACTION! self-advocacy conference promotes ACTION!

Project ACTION! is hosting their 2015 Leadership Conference on Saturday, June 13, from 8:00am – 4:30pm, at the Catholic University of the America’s Pryzbyla Center located at 620 Michigan Avenue, NE, Washington, DC.  Project ACTION!, is the District’s self-advocacy coalition of adults with developmental disabilities advocating for positive change in their communities.

This year’s theme for the conference is “The Future is Ours: Take ACTION!” and will have a variety of workshops focusing on people getting the resources, skills and motivation to take action and direct their own futures.  The Plenary speaker is, Vander Cherry and the keynote luncheon speaker is Tina Campanella.  Workshop topics include:  Serving on Boards, Influencing Decision-Makers, Advocacy for Jobs, Advocacy for Beginners: Finding Your Voice, Telling Your Story, and more.   The conference is intended for self-advocates with disabilities and people who support them.   

This year other partners include the DC Department on Disability Services and Developmental Disabilities Administration; DC Developmental Disabilities Council, the National Catholic School of Social Service and the Center for Community Development & Social Justice, and Quality Trust for Individuals with Disabilities.

Breakfast, lunch and a closing reception are a part of the day’s planned activities.  Registration is $ 35.00 for non-members and $ 25.00 for Project ACTION! members.  Annual membership dues are $ 25 if you wish to become a member.
