Welcome from Quality Trust’s CEO

Welcome to Quality Trust’s revised and renewed website. We have worked hard to redesign this site to make it easier to navigate and find the information you are looking for when you visit. Please let us know what you think and if there are other things, we could do to improve it and make it more “user friendly” by emailing us at info@dcqualitytrust.org.
Quality Trust is a non-profit advocacy organization with a team of passionate, disability advocates with over 200-years’ experience combined. This is not just our job – it is who we are! It’s been almost a year since we began dealing with the COVID-19 virus. Last March 13, two days after our annual Better Together Reception, we got the order from the District of Columbia to move to remote work due to the pandemic. Quality Trust has been blessed to continue our work in support of people with developmental disabilities and their families throughout the region without any significant disruption. Our virtual outreach is fully operational and our staff are working harder than ever to stay connected with the people who depend on Quality Trust for support. Providing that support now requires us to be extra vigilant and alert to the new patterns of life people are experiencing during this health emergency. Although challenging, our role has never been more important!

We are once again preparing to celebrate March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. This awareness campaign is a national effort to highlight the benefits of including people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life. At Quality Trust we are often asked to be advocates with people to address the many barriers that they still sometimes face in accessing the communities in which they live. We have made a commitment to illustrate the important and vital role that children and adults play in our communities by making sure they are fully supported to be active participants in every aspect of our work. In this virtual world, that means making sure that people with disabilities (and their families) have access to the technology they need to stay connected with each other and join in the meetings that are happening online. It’s just one of the many ways we contribute to making our community more welcoming for the people we support.
Our “Better Together” event for 2021 will need to be virtual this year – yet we are looking to bring our community together as usual with an evening of “Paint and Sip”! Everyone will need to organize the “Sip” of their choice at home – but we have arranged to provide all participants with the tools you will need to create an artistic masterpiece with guidance from our friends at Creation Nation Events. Even though we cannot yet gather in the traditional sense – it is important to find ways to stay connected with others and celebrate the gifts we have. You can purchase tickets here or make a donation to ensure a self-advocate can participate — we hope you will join us!
I thank you for stopping by to have a virtual visit with Quality Trust and hope you will stay connected with us until we can once again, gather and celebrate in person. Until then – #StaySafe #StayStrong
