This inspirational video looks back at the history of Forest Haven, the District of Columbia’s former institution for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  In 1991, the District was the second jurisdiction in the nation to close the doors to its institution that segregated people with disabilities. This video is a must-have for service providers, policy makers, disability professionals, self-advocates, lawyers, teachers, and community members who work and advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  It is accompanied by a study guide to facilitate discussion about the key issues portrayed in the video.
