Family EMPOWERment Center Training

Quality Trust staff offer a variety of practical trainings that are critical to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families.  Activities at the Family EMPOWERment Center are based on supporting inclusion, self-determination, and collaboration with existing organizations.  Subjects range from "When to the Call the Doctor” to "Self-Sufficiency 101", these and other topics are presented by instructors who represent a variety of experiential and multicultural perspectives.   For more information and a calendar of upcoming events, contact the Family EMPOWERment Center at 202-561-1991.

SibShops

Series of workshops for 8 to 13 year old brothers and sisters of children with developmental disabilities where they can obtain peer support and education within a recreational context.  SibShops are not therapy, group or otherwise, although their effect may be therapeutic for some children.

There is a non-refundable registration fee of five dollars ($5.00) for each SibShops session or ten dollars ($10.00) for three SibShops.  Provisions for families who cannot afford the fees but are committed to participating are availble. For more information or to register for an upcoming SibShop, contact the Family EMPOWERment Center at 202-561-1991.
