Our Achievements
- Launched a collaborative project to improve outcomes for people in using the Home and Community Based Waiver funding: The Partnership for Change Initiative and the Guardianship and Informed Consent Project. 2003
- 2004 Partnered with the DC Department of Human Services – received federal grant for Family Support 360 from Administration on Developmental Disabilities.
- 2005 Initiated training to improve health care; launched project to promote proactive planning around end of life supports; worked with DC Superior Court to develop a framework for implementing the volunteer advocacy program envisioned in law.
- 2006 Released Partnership for Change report “In Search of Real Choice and Real Lives”.
- In 2007, Family EMPOWERment Center, the only family support center in Washington, DC focused on people with developmental disabilities, opened a one-stop resource center site in SE Washington – specially equipped with assistive technology to ensure it is accessible for everyone.
- QT also hosted a first ever “Disability Support Professionals Conference” (9-27-07), focused on training and supporting the staff within the developmental disability system who have the greatest influence on people’s daily lives.
- 2007-8 Intense collaboration with the Department of Disability Services (DDS); Partnership with DDS and Medicaid; Prepared Brief at the request of DC Superior Court;
- Prepared an Amicus Brief at the request of DC Superior Court addressing the scope and authority of the Court relative to individual supports per DC Law.
- Partnership with DDS and Medicaid to develop specific plans and rules for Medicaid waiver-funded services that will ensure people have access to supports that are flexible and individually tailored;
