Quality Trust
for
Individuals with Disabilities, Inc (Quality Trust) was
created in 2001 to be a durable, independent, advocacy organization.
Our role is to advance the individual and collective
interests of people with developmental disabilities in the
District of Columbia (DC).
We address issues of quality in
supports and services and advocate for improvement in
community and governments systems through a variety of
activities.
Quality Trust's
three core activities on behalf of people with
developmental disabilities in DC include
-
providing lay advocacy services
- monitoring the quality and adequacy of services
- ensuring
access to legal services
Quality Trust's thirteen member Board of Directors includes specific membership categories to ensure the interests of people with disabilities in DC are fairly represented and addressed. The categories are as follows:
- Two family members of people with mental retardation and/or developmental disabilities.
- Two non-legal advocates for persons who have mental retardation and/or developmental disabilities.
- Three persons who have mental retardation and/or developmental disabilities.
- Two professionals with at least ten years background in a service delivery system for people who have mental retardation and/or developmental disabilities.
- Two attorneys licensed to practice law.
- Two citizens residing in the District of Columbia.
Quality Trust is committed to working collaboratively with
its members, their families, community advocates and other
critical stakeholders in all its work. We see expanding and strengthening advocacy
support available to people with disabilities as a
